Scoring

We use category judging. Each judge will score in a specific category such as dance/choreography, stunts/pyramids, and tumbling/jumps. The scoring consists of 3 category sheets, a point deduction sheet and legality deduction sheet.

A panel of experts specifically qualified in their category will judge points directly related to their category. In addition, each judge will also have 10 points to give for their overall impression of the routine regardless of relation to their specific category.

Score sheets are added together and divided by the number of judges for the final score.

At Nationals, Saturday preliminary scores determine the top 5 teams who go on to compete in the Finals on Sunday for National Championship Ranking. All scores are thrown out from preliminaries, and all teams compete with a clean slate. Teams that do not make finals also compete on Sunday for the Award of Excellence consolation round ranking.
