Read this article. They are working on making it an official sport because we all already know that competitive cheerleading is a sport!

I personally think that this judge’s decision was WAY WRONG!!! My daughter is a competitive cheerleader and she and her team work just as hard as any volleyball or football team or any other “sport” out there. If gymnastics is a sport which obviouslly it is considering it is in the Olympics, then by all means competitive cheerleading should be as well. In all reality that’s basiclly all it consists of is gymnastics, dance, and stunting…..which is very hard work. So in a nutshell I call B.S. on this whole article.

I suggest you all read the judges summation. There are several points the judge speaks to which are not discussed in the article. I happen to disagree with the Judges decision / opinion but when you read the judges summation you’ll see he was indeed following the established rules and precedence. The judgement was not seeking to determine if the precedence should be overturned only if the school was adhering to its own rules and policies. It wasn’t, hence the ruling. I don’t like it but the case of whether Cheer is a sport is a separate issue to be taken up shortly I suspect.
